Voice over packet reliability issues for next generation networks
نویسنده
چکیده
Next Generation Networks (NGNs) will support a variety of communications services (data, video, and voice) seamlessly. Customers will demand that these networks be highly reliable as more and more traffic and services use them. Because of the historically exceptional reliability of wireline voice telephony, the reliability of voice services supported by NGN Voice Over Packet (VOP) necessitates special attention in order to achieve customer satisfaction of the service.

Experimentation and Analysis for Unified Packet-based Wireless Networks
This paper looks at the next generation of wireless data networks. It experiments with and analyzes the current state of wireless data communication, including the setup of an operating wireless testbed. The paper then explores the next step for wireless networks where all types of tra c including voice, multimedia, and data are sent over a common underlying packet-based network. It continues w...
متن کاملSurvey of QoS issues for TCP connections in Optical Burst Switched Networks
Optical Burst Switching (OBS) can cater the requirements of bandwidth intensive applications like Voice-over-IP, video conferencing, interactive video on demand. It is switching technique for the next generation optical networks. This paper deals with merits and the protocols used for the Optical Burst Switching. A brief survey of QoS open research issues for TCP/OBS connections is also discussed.
متن کاملQoS provisioning in wireless networks
The next-generation wireless networks such as the fourth generation (4G) cellular systems are targeted at supporting various applications such as voice, data, and multimedia over packetswitched networks. Providing quality of service (QoS) guarantees for these applications is an important objective in the design of the next-generation wireless networks. In this paper, we overview the issues and ...
متن کاملOptimizing Low Speed VoIP Network for Rural Next Generation Network (R-NGN)
In this paper, we identify some impairments in the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networks and quantify the levels of voice quality. We propose an optimization model to maximize number of calls in low speed network for Rural Next Generation Network (R-NGN) while maintaining a minimum level of voice quality. The model is based-on Extended E-model to select parameters like voice coder, packe...
متن کاملOptical Metropolitan Networks: Packet Format, MAC Protocols and Quality of Service
Optical Packet Switching (OPS) is among the most promising solutions for next generation metropolitan networks. The increase of packetbased services (video on demand, etc.) is pushing metropolitan networks providers to renew their infrastructures. Today, metropolitan networks are based on SONET/SDH circuit-switched networks, which are becoming inefficient and costly to support new requirements ...
